The UCLA Film & Television Archive partnered with Hollywood Post 43 of the American Legion for a special screening of director Peter Jackson's monumental WWI film, They Shall Not Grow Old (2018). Thank you to all who joined us and made it a memorable evening!

They Shall Not Grow Old" is a World War I documentary directed by Peter Jackson that uses restored and colorized footage to present a modern, vivid depiction of the war. The film features extensive restoration work, including 4K scanning, rotoscoping, and 3D conversion, to transform the original black and white, silent film footage into a dynamic and engaging experience.

Throughout the restoration process, meticulous attention was paid to historical accuracy, with input from Peter Jackson's personal collection of WWI artifacts and his travels to filming locations.

The result is a powerful and moving documentary that brings the stories of WWI soldiers to life in a way never seen before.
